A Boise family is turning one of the most difficult experiences of their lives into a message they hope could help someone else.

While visiting family in California, a Boise father was bitten twice by a rattlesnake after going into his parents’ backyard in Butte County, CA, to check on a burst water line just hours before the family was set to return home.

He was rushed to the hospital, where he received 56 vials of antivenom and spent weeks recovering as doctors treated the effects of the bite.

Now back in Boise, recovery is still ongoing, but the family says they’re grateful to be together. They hope sharing their story reminds others that rattlesnake bites should never be taken lightly and that seeking immediate medical attention can make all the difference.

As recovery is still ongoing, a GoFundMe has been created to help with medical expenses and support the family during his recovery

Looking back, they say the experience has changed their perspective, making everyday moments with family feel even more meaningful.
