TEXAS — After severe weather began striking the Hill Country area on Wednesday, Comal County issued a mandatory evacuation Thursday evening for those along the Guadalupe River.
According to a 6 p.m. Facebook post from the county, anyone along the river “from the Comal County line at Guadalupe State Park” to FM 311 must evacuate.
“If you are in this area, leave now,” the post said. “Take your family, pets, and essential medications.”
Spring Branch Middle School, located at 21053 TX-45, will serve as a community shelter as the floods rage on.
The post urged residents to “not wait to see how conditions develop” and not drive through already-flooded roads.
Comal County sits on the Edwards Plateau, which Gov. Greg Abbott said in a press conference is expected to receive “very heavy rain” Thursday night.
So far, at least two people have died due to flooding, Abbott said.
