TULSA, Okla. –
The Ascension St. John Bedrock Initiative is set to host the North Tulsa Health Outreach Series from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at St. Augustine Catholic Church. No appointments are required, and patients will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis.
Free healthcare services available for adults
The clinic will offer free wellness exams, preventive health screenings, blood sugar and cholesterol testing, prescription refill orders and care coordination for adults ages 18 and older.
Organizers say the goal is to make healthcare more accessible by bringing services directly into the community and reducing barriers that can prevent people from seeking care.
“We have folks in our community that are doing the best that they can. And sometimes that means prioritizing their healthcare gets deprioritized,” said Dr. Janel Pasley with the Ascension St. John Health Equity Initiative. “So, this is an opportunity for us to support them through access, engagement and empowerment to take care of themselves in an easier way.”
Pasley said the event is designed to meet people where they are by bringing healthcare directly into the neighborhood.
“It’s important that we support our neighbors through hot meals, through groceries, but also helping them to take care of themselves and their health by bringing care to them,” Pasley said.
Free meals and groceries for early attendees
The first 125 people who attend the clinic will receive a free meal and a bag of groceries.
Organizers say providing food alongside healthcare services is another way to support families and address needs that can affect overall health.
Families welcome at community event
While medical services are available only for adults, families are encouraged to attend. A Kids Zone will be available throughout the event for children.
