KEARNEY, Neb. — The MLB Draft wrapped up on Sunday, and one homegrown kid is getting his shot at the big leagues.
Camden Kozeal was selected by the Miami Marlins in this year’s MLB Draft. Kozeal graduated from Millard South High School in 2023 but actually grew up near Sargent.
He moved to the city in 8th grade in part to play at a higher level and gain more exposure, despite moving to the city.
Camden said he still takes time to visit Sargent, Burwell and Broken Bow, and even visited central Nebraska the week before the draft.
In his final year at Arkansas, Kozeal batted .318 with an OPS over 1.000 tied for the 20th best in the SEC and 71 RBIs which was tied for the 19th most in the nation.
He also the led the Razorbacks in batting average, hits, doubles, triples, home runs, rbis, runs, slugging percentage, total bases and walks.
