Second person charged in connection to fatal hit-skip crash that killed Harrison cyclist
HARRISON, Ohio —
Court documents indicate that a second person has been arrested in connection to a fatal hit-skip crash that killed a cyclist on a busy road in Harrison last month.
According to the documents, 22-year-old Stormy Hampton is being charged with failure to report a crime. This comes after police allege that she was a passenger in the 2022 Toyota Tundra that was being driven by 34-year-old Tyler Black at the time of the fatal crash on June 20.
The cyclist who was killed was later identified by police as 52-year-old Jeffrey Muse. He is said to have worked at a nearby Skyline Chili restaurant in Harrison, with those who knew him calling him a beloved fixture in the community.
Police indicated in earlier court documents that Black had two passengers in his truck at the time of the crash, with all three getting out to check on Muse immediately afterwards. However, the group would later drive away from the scene without calling police.
Court records indicate that Hampton was arrested on Friday. She was subsequently arraigned in court on Saturday morning, with her bond set at $500.
For his role in the incident, Black is being charged by prosecutors with aggravated vehicular homicide and failure to stop after an accident, for which his bond was previously set at $40,000.
There is no word on whether the other passenger in Black’s vehicle is also expected to be charged.
