The Hawks are reportedly adding former All-Defensive First Team member Lu Dort to a talented backcourt.
The Atlanta Hawks are adding another top defensive wing to their rotation. ESPN’s Sham Charania initially reported on Sunday that the Hawks have acquired guard Lu Dort from the Oklahoma City Thunder in a three-team trade that also includes Zaccharie Risacher going to the Dallas Mavericks. The deal became official the same day.

The Hawks pair the 27-year-old Dort with fellow defensive stalwart Dyson Daniels to create a fierce wing defense pairing of former All-Defensive players. Dort spent the first seven years of his career with the Thunder after going undrafted in 2019, averaging 8.3 points, 3.6 rebounds and 0.9 steals per game last season. The Canadian guard became a staple in Oklahoma City’s rotation, becoming a key piece in their championship run in 2025.
Nembhard worked his way into the Mavericks rotation as a rookie last season after going undrafted and beginning the year on a Two-Way contract. The 5-foot-11 point guard averaged 6.6 points and 5.3 assists on the season, and broke Jason Kidd’s record for assists in a game by a Mavericks rookie with a 23-assist performance against the Bulls in April.
Dallas lands Risacher in the deal, picking up the No. 1 overall pick from the 2024 NBA Draft to join 2025 No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg on the roster. The 6-foot-8 French forward averaged 9.6 points and 3.8 rebounds on 45.5% shooting from the field in his second season in the NBA.
The Thunder pick up three more second-round draft picks, bringing their offseason total to seven after also acquiring two apiece in earlier offseason trades on Aaron Wiggins to the Hawks and Isaiah Joe to the Pistons. Oklahoma City had picked up Dort’s $17.7 million team option earlier in the offseason, choosing to trade him for more picks rather than decline the option and letting him become a free agent.
