Taiwan’s Chan Hao-ching and Japanese partner Miyu Kato defeated Britain’s Maia Lumsden and China’s Tang Qianhui to win the women’s doubles title at the WTA Athens Open in Greece on Sunday.
Chan and Kato, who had advanced to the final without dropping a set, raced to a 3-0 lead in the opener, but were unable to maintain their advantage as the set went into a tiebreak. After a tough rally, the top seeds regained their composure to take the opening set 7-6 (7-3).
However, Lumsden and Tang, the fouth seeds, quickly made a comeback to level the match with a 6-4 win in the second set.

Chan and Kato responded by taking a 4-1 lead in the deciding match tiebreak and, despite allowing their opponents to narrow the gap, held on for a 10-7 victory to seal the title.
The victory was Chan’s first WTA doubles title since the Stuttgart Open in April 2024. It is the 22nd WTA doubles title of her career. The tournament ran from July 13 to 19.
