Christine is here with *** look at today’s alert day forecast, breaking down the timing of when to expect some potentially severe storms. Newsgate’s Cameron Lobley is live in Lancaster County of what we know this morning about *** deadly stabbing in East Henfield Township, and Newsgate’s Gabrielle Thomas is in York County with what we’re hearing from York Township residents about *** reported shooting in York Township. Let’s start with the weather and *** live look from our Harrisburg sky cam. An alert day today, Christine, because of these storms. We do have *** window from 2:00 p.m. till about 8:00 p.m. for those strong to severe storms this afternoon and this evening, with the highest threat, I think, coming right around dinner time for most of us. Damaging wind gusts, heavy rain which could lead to flash flooding, as well as some large hail and even an isolated tornado can’t be ruled out across the Susquehanna Valley today. Let me show you our storm team live radar. At work we’ve had some showers, some isolated thunderstorms lifting off to the northeast. I still won’t rule out *** few additional showers. You see one trying to get going there in southern Adams County, but those won’t be severe. Here’s *** look at our temperatures plenty of 70s out there. It is definitely more humid than it was yesterday at this time. Yesterday we were enjoying dew points in the 50s. It felt refreshing, but now we are back to that soupy air that’s going to fuel those showers, thunderstorms this morning into the afternoon with the strongest storms coming. Right around dinner time, so you can see those dark clouds there 4:00 p.m., 6 p.m. Most of the action will start to wind down by 8, and *** couple of trailing showers are possible until midnight. But today I want you to stay weather aware, have multiple ways to receive weather alerts. Let’s go to our roads now, and Regina, good morning. Good morning, Christine. Good morning, everyone. Right now we are monitoring an incident in East Hanover Township, Dauphin County, I-81 southbound at the Hershey-G Granville exit. We’ll keep an eye on that for you. Meantime, good morning, Juniata County. Here’s *** Route 22322 at Narrows. What *** beautiful drive there. You can see the weather kind of coming in in that part of Juniata County, West Manchester Township and York County though, looking great. Route 30 at Carlisle Avenue looks like ***, *** busy Tuesday morning. And if you are traveling out of York to Lancaster, 23 minute drive there, 21 to Harrisburg, and *** little bit slow if you’re headed southbound to the Maryland state line. We’ll have another update in about 5 minutes. This has been *** Lancaster Toyota traffic report. *** woman has died and *** man in the hospital following *** stabbing in Lancaster County, and Cameron Loly is live in East Hempfield Township, where police were on scene there for around 12 hours yesterday. Cameron, and what do we know now about the suspect that’s been taken into custody? Yes, Matt Regina, that actually happened around noon yesterday and since then the area that police were at yesterday, that’s right this road right behind me, Persimmon Drive, that has since cleared up *** lot more since what we saw yesterday, but you can see behind me police are still in the area. You can see over there in East Hempfield Township police vehicle, so that’s just one of the. Ones that we’ve seen this morning. You can also see as the lights starting to come out, we are seeing some police tape outside of the house that that police car is parked right outside of. So this investigation continuing into this morning and police staying in the area into this morning. I want to share *** little bit more about what we know about that suspect after police say that they. Have apprehended him. Police say that the suspect had already left this area of the township by the time that they had first arrived on scene. That was *** little after 10:30 yesterday morning. They say it was roughly another hour and *** half before they found him near the area of Good Drive and Route 30. Now officials haven’t identified him yet, but the Lancaster County DA’s office says that the two victims. And the suspects actually all lived at the same home here on Persimmon Drive. Now, as mentioned, East Hempfield Township, they are going to be continuing to lead this investigation, but the Lancaster County DA’s office says that county police will also be assisting during this investigation. We’re live in East Hempfield. Cameron Lovely, WGAU News 8. All right, thanks, Cameron. The family of *** seventeen-year-old shot and killed Saturday in Columbia. Lancaster County is remembering him. Investigators say Wilfredo Garcia’s death is being investigated as *** homicide after he was shot and killed inside an apartment on Plain Street. Garcia’s mother was in the apartment that night and says her son had *** few friends over. She said she heard the gunshot after she went to bed. She said the boys he was with took the gun and some of Wilfredo’s belongings and ran off. I grabbed my son and I put most of my son on the floor and my son was still breathing. I compressed his face where they shot him in his face. He finally stopped squeezing my fingers and I knew my son was gone. I honestly want them to be behind bars for life, for life, for life, for life, for life. My brother was 17 years old and had so much life to live. The police in Colombia have not given an update on suspects. And police are continuing to investigate *** shooting in York County in the area of Arc Drive and Olney Road in York Township. It happened around 5 o’clock yesterday night. This is the 3rd big investigation we’re following today. News eight’s Gabrielle Thomas is live at that scene in York Township. Gabrielle. Good morning Matt and Regina. Just as you mentioned, it all went down around 5 o’clock yesterday evening. Residents say this is *** pretty quiet neighborhood, so to have something like this happen in the area was *** little frightening for them. Now police do say that it’s an isolated incident and it happened here on Arc Drive. When we talked to some neighbors, um, they say that they saw *** group of young adults. In the street about 15 minutes before the shooting, which was around 4:45, they estimated the group was between 17 and 22 years old. Now then around 5 o’clock, other residents here in the neighborhood say they heard 3 to 4 gunshots. Police kept the road shut down for more than 3 hours yesterday while investigators worked the scene. Take *** listen. I literally received *** text message from my mother, um, as I was pulling into the neighborhood about 5:30, and at that point there was already *** line of cars trying to come in the neighborhood, trying to figure out where to go. Nothing like this instance has happened in this neighborhood. It’s been quiet. I’ve lived here my whole life, my daughter’s whole life. Now we are working to learn more details about what led up to the shooting here on Arc Drive. When we receive those details, we’ll keep you updated on air and online. Today in Lancaster County, Warwick school board members are scheduled to talk about the future of Bonfield Elementary School principal Amy Balsball’s job. She’s accused of leaving Callie, *** school facility dog, in *** hot car last month, and Callie died. The school board is scheduled to vote on whether to hold *** hearing next month that could lead to Ball’s Ball being fired. An attorney who spoke with News Aide said things like this will continue to happen until people are held accountable. If you leave *** child in the car, you’re going to be charged. You’re going to be held accountable. Why are dogs different? Uh, they’re still living beings, and they’re still living beings just like children who rely on their humans to take care of them and to protect them. The Lancaster County DA’s office did not file criminal charges in Callie’s case, saying the dog’s handler did not deliberately leave her in the car. The man you just heard from is also the president for *** nonprofit that’s called Rain for Change. He says Rain was *** show dog who also died last year after being left in *** hot car, and now the group is advocating on behalf of Raine and other dogs like Callie. We now know *** man charged with DUI in Ocean City, Maryland is *** member of the Harrisburg Police Department. *** city spokesperson says he’s on unpaid leave. Maryland court records show 40-year-old Lee Brown of York County was arrested on July 13th. He was charged with driving *** motorcycle while under the influence of alcohol, and police say he was going 80 MPH in *** 40 mile per hour zone. And when he was pulled over, police say he failed. Several sobriety tests. Columbia police in Lancaster County say *** man is charged for stealing an ambulance while it was responding to *** call. Officers say emergency crews were in the area of 11th Street and Grinnella Avenue. This was early yesterday morning. That’s when investigators say Elijah Leed stole the ambulance, and after driving it around, police say Leed returned it to where he stole it, and that’s where he was arrested. In this year’s state budget, rape crisis centers are getting *** boost in state funding, and during *** visit to Cumberland County yesterday, Governor Josh Shapiro announced *** $12 million boost to 47 rape crisis centers across the state, and the centers say the funding will support their work to help sexual assault survivors. Crisis advocates like Rosario Dalton take phone calls like this every day from survivors of sexual assault. Sometimes we receive some calls and uh or what they wanted is here’s someone that understands what they’re going through, also believe what they’re going through. Address cuts many nonprofits made during last year’s budget impasse, and help is available for you if you are *** victim of sexual violence. Free and confidential crisis counseling can be reached 24 hours *** day. You see the number there 1-888-772-7227. Some New York County parents now have to find childcare after the state Department of Human Services shut down You Grow York. The department says the reasons for closing that daycare include improper staff credentials, and they also cited an incident where *** toddler was left on the playground for several minutes in 99 degree heat. Parents were given *** list of other daycare centers in the area, but some have wait lists upwards of 6 months or longer. I might have to call out of work on Wednesday because I don’t have anyone to cover my shift. I don’t have anyone to watch her. My sister already called off once this week. I don’t want to force her to call off again just so I can go to work. News8 reached out to U Grove’s location in York and the corporate headquarters, but we did not hear back. Now let’s go to Christine tracking Tropical Storm Bertha. We mentioned Bertha earlier in the newscast This developed yesterday, and the storm has winds of 50 MPH right now just to the south of Panama City. Now look at this. It just scoots across southern Louisiana as *** tropical storm and then weakens as it moves into the Gulf Coast of Texas. But those folks can expect 2 to For up to 6 inches of rain in some spots. Storm surge, and of course this slow moving storm throughout the week. So we will keep you posted on Bertha and our storm chances. Today is an alert day and our window of opportunity 2 p.m. to about 8:00 p.m. So *** lot of people driving home from work or yeah, that’s the key, I think. Around dinner time or evening commute time that could be the worst of the weather.

One person was injured after a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 83 in York County, according to the Shrewsbury Volunteer Fire Company. Video above: Headlines from WGAL News 8 Today. The collision happened in the southbound lanes in Shrewsbury Township near Exit 4, Shrewsbury/Route 851, around 6:45 a.m. on Tuesday. The fire company said one person was transported to the hospital. The crash blocked the Exit 4 southbound on-ramp and multiple lanes of the interstate. Traffic slowly moved through the crash scene using one lane, leading to extensive delays.The scene has since cleared, and all lanes have reopened. Pennsylvania State Police are investigating. Delays are increasing following a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 83 in York County, according to emergency dispatchers.

The collision happened in the southbound lanes in Shrewsbury Township near Exit 4, Shrewsbury/Route 851, around 6:45 a.m. on Tuesday.
The crash is blocking the Exit 4 southbound on-ramp and multiple lanes of the interstate. Traffic is slowly moving through the crash scene using one lane.
