Ukrainian tennis player Oleksandra Oliynykova made her first appearance on the courts of a prestigious tournament as the undisputed No. 1 seed.

In the opening 1/16-final match of the WTA 250 tournament in Hamburg, the Ukrainian top seed overcame the resistance of the home player Nastassya Shunk.

Oleksandra Oliynykova (Ukraine) – Nastassya Shunk (Germany) – 2:1 (6:2, 3:6, 7:5).

Before the tournament Oleksandra set a personal best in the WTA world rankings – for the first time rising to No. 45. Shunk is currently No. 418 in the world rankings.

Second Round in Hamburg

In the second round of the tournament Oliynykova will face the world No. 153, Spanish player Leire Romero Hormas, who in the opener defeated Slovenian Veronika Erjavec.
