WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Novant Health is cutting 31 jobs across its health system, including at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.
A spokesperson confirmed the cuts Tuesday in a statement, saying certain revenue cycle positions are being eliminated system-wide to “prevent redundancy.” The spokesperson said the reductions are not specific to the Wilmington facility.
The health system, which employs approximately 44,000 people, provided the following statement to WECT:
“As we focus on expanding patient access, improving affordability, advancing innovation and delivering remarkable patient care, we regularly evaluate our organizational structure and staffing needs to ensure we are positioned to meet the needs of our communities for years to come.
As part of that ongoing work, and as we continue to modernize our revenue cycle operations, certain revenue cycle positions are being eliminated to prevent redundancy.
Decisions affecting team members are never made lightly. While these changes are necessary to help ensure the long-term sustainability of our organization and our ability to serve patients, we recognize the impact on those affected and are committed to providing transition support. We are grateful for their contributions to Novant Health and our patients.”
Novant Health did not disclose how many of the 31 cuts affect employees at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
