Peregrine falcon ‘Moxie’ found following disappearance from I&M Power Center nesting box

  • July 26, 2026

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – ‘Moxie’ has been found, according to Soarin’ Hawk Raptor Rehabilitation Center.

The announcement comes after the organization asked for assistance in early July when the peregrine falcon went missing from the nesting box atop the Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) Center that she and her partner ‘Jamie’ have called home each breeding season for the past 14 years.

The organization shared a Facebook post on Friday featuring a video from two local supporters showing Moxie perched beside the PNC Center in downtown Fort Wayne earlier this week.

According to the organization, Moxie was likely spending time away with Jamie to ‘rest and refresh’.

“We are so happy to see you, Moxie!” the organization said.

Before her disappearance, Moxie had laid two eggs, one in late March and another in early May.

Over their time nesting atop the Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) Center, Moxie and Jamie have welcomed over 30 chicks.

However, this year the peregrine falcon nest was considered ‘failed’ after neither egg was viable.

Soarin’ Hawk Raptor Rehabilitation Center had previously expressed concern with Moxie’s nesting behavior.

Based on its observations, the organization said that it believes that Moxie may be being challenged by another peregrine falcon, distracting her from laying and interacting with eggs.

As peregrine falcons age, the organization acknowledges that each breeding season will become increasingly challenging.

“We treasure the time we share with them annually,” the organization said.

The organization did not say whether Moxie and Jamie are expected to return to their nest this year; however, the couple usually arrive annually in late winter.
