Severe storm leaves more than 34,000 BGE customers without power in Baltimore area

Thousands of Baltimore Gas and Electric customers are without power after a severe storm caused damage across Central Maryland.

As of 8 p.m., more than 34,000 customers were affected by storm-related power outages, according to BGE, . The utility company’s outage map showed over 600 outages.

Baltimore City and Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Howard and Prince George’s counties were hit the hardest, BGE said in a statement.

BGE estimated that power would be restored to 80% of customers impacted by the storm by 11 p.m. on Wednesday. Full restoration is not expected until Thursday night.

Crews are still assessing the damage, but preliminary reports included downed wires, broken poles and fallen trees.
