Dr. Anthony Fauci has declined to answer questions from members of the Senate Homeland Security Committee.

Fauci singled out Kentucky Senator Rand Paul and claimed in a prepared statement that Paul was targeting him. He said: “Any reasonable person who has followed his unhinged obsession with me would readily come to the same conclusion.”

Paul asked Fauci multiple questions about gain-of-function research conducted in Wuhan, China, and Fauci’s involvement in it, all of which Fauci declined to answer.

Senator Paul has asserted that due to his presidential pardon, Dr. Fauci does not have the right to plead the Fifth, and there will be repercussions for his failure to answer questions.

A lawyer for Dr. Fauci was also removed from the hearing by Paul after he repeatedly tried to address the committee despite not being recognized.

This is a breaking news story.
