Story: Adam Nelson (@HD_DirtKing)

I teased this one on X last night. Still no official announcement yet, but I can confirm that after spending the past 28-seasons as the head basketball coach at D3 Wheaton College (MA), Brian Walmsley will step away from basketball and assume the position of Senior Assistant Athletic Director at the school. He will be replaced on an interim basis by current assistant coach Alex DuBrow.

Walmsley leaves his position as the all-time wins leader at Wheaton, and is the only coach in program history to win over 300 games (337). He and his staff earned NEWMAC Coaching Staff of the Year honors in 2023-24, and he led the Lyons to back-to-back ECAC Championships in 2004-05 and 2005-06. Prior to his time at Wheaton, Walmsley spent six seasons as an assistant at Harvard.

DuBrow is a 2020 Wheaton graduate who has been on the staff for the past two seasons. Prior to returning to his alma mater, DuBrow played professionally in Israel for three seasons. He currently ranks 3rd on Wheaton’s all-time assist list for his career.

An official announcement on these moves is expected shortly.
