Everett man accused of kidnapping, raping woman who knocked on door to sell phone plan
EVERETT, Mass. —
A man is facing charges after allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting a saleswoman who knocked on his door in Everett, Massachusetts, last week.
James Mugford, 67, of Everett, has been charged with aggravated rape, two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and kidnapping. He was arraigned in Malden District Court July 23.
According to the Middlesex County district attorney’s office, a victim knocked on his door as part of her job selling phone plans.
Mugford allegedly threatened her with weapons before holding her against her will in his home and sexually assaulting her.
At a dangerousness hearing Friday, he was found dangerous and held without bail. Mugford is due back in court Aug. 28.
