BAYOU LA BATRE, Ala. (WALA/Gray News) – A woman is accused of setting her ex-boyfriend’s car on fire for breaking up with her.
A video allegedly shows Kimberly Valente-Aviles pulling into a parking lot and going up to her ex-boyfriend’s car with paper that was on fire. Then, she allegedly got back in her car and left.
Minutes later, white smoke started billowing out of the car.
About six minutes go by before someone notices. A man pulled up and got out of his truck to see what was going on before leaving to get help. Moments later, a man walked out with a fire extinguisher.
According to police, Valente-Aviles was mad that her boyfriend broke up with her, so she was getting revenge.
Valente-Aviles has been on the run for a few weeks, but was arrested when she got back to town to try and work things out with her ex-boyfriend, according to police.
She is charged with 2nd-degree arson.
