LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Louisville Visual Art (LVA) is opening registration for its historic Children’s Fine Art Classes (CFAC) starting Monday, August 3.
Since 1925, the program has given motivated and gifted children the opportunity to participate in intensive visual art experiences across Louisville and Southern Indiana.
The classes are tuition-free so that financial barriers won’t prevent students from participating.
Program details & curriculum
Students who are accepted into the 10-week program will meet once a week during the fall and spring semesters. They will have focused studio instruction led by art teachers and professional artists.
They will get instruction in :
Drawing & PaintingMixed MediaArt History, Critique, and Aesthetics
At the end of each year, the students’ works are professionally displayed in the CFAC and Academy of LVA Annual Art Exhibitions.
How to enroll
Because the curriculum in intensive, students must be recommended to participate.
Eligibility: Recommended students must be at least 9 years old.Recommendations: Can be submitted year-round by art teachers, classroom teachers, principals, or community leaders who recognize the student’s visual art talent. (Note: High school students interested in advanced studies can apply for the tuition-based Academy of LVA, which offers need-based scholarships.)
