About 100 people “protested” in Minneapolis on Sunday outside Target Center ahead of the Lynx-Fever game, with the crowd “equally split” with those who supported Fever G Sophie Cunningham’s views that transgender women should be banned from girls’ and women’s sports and those who said that trans athletes should be welcomed. During Sunday’s game, Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve, who is “known for her bold graphic tees supporting social causes,” wore a shirt that read, “Trans Kids Belong.” Reeve was also “spotted speaking to Cunningham on the court before the game.” Reeve: “Both of us understand that we, you know, we have platforms. …There are some things that, you know, we have in common, and maybe some things you differ on, just like any issues, and I think it’s how you handle things.” During the game, Cunningham “drew boos from some in the crowd when handling the ball” (MINNESOTA STAR TRIBUNE, 8/2).
