BPD: Parkville suspect charged with murder in Baltimore man’s death after fight in Harbor East
BALTIMORE —
Baltimore police homicide detectives arrested a Parkville man in connection with the death of another man who was pulled from the harbor.
City fire officials told WBAL-TV 11 News that rescue crews were called around 3 p.m. Sunday for a water rescue in the 1300 block of Lancaster Street in Harbor East.
City police said James Britt, 37, of Baltimore, was pulled from the water and was taken to a hospital, where he died.
Police said homicide detectives learned Britt and James Fitzsimmons, 36, of Parkville, were fighting when Fitzsimmons pushed Britt into the water as Britt retreated from Fitzsimmons.
According to police charging documents obtained by WBAL-TV 11 News, officers recovered surveillance video that they said shows the two men fighting and Fitzsimmons pushing Britt into the water.
Fitzsimmons was taken into custody and taken to Central Booking, where he was charged with second-degree murder.
