Road reopens hours after 10,000-pound transformer being hauled strikes wires in Penn Hills
PENN HILLS TOWNSHIP, Pa. —
UPDATE:
Hours after a transformer struck wires while being transported on a tractor-trailer, officials said a Penn Hills road has reopened to traffic.
The Penn Hills No. 7 VFC said in an update that Frankstown Road between Banyon and Janice drives reopened at 7 p.m.
It has reopened in all directions.

Part of a Penn Hills road remains closed in all directions Wednesday afternoon after an unstable 10,000-pound transformer being hauled on a tractor-trailer struck overhead wires.
In a post from Penn Hills No. 7, officials said Frankstown Road in Penn Hills is closed in all directions between Banyon and Janice drives after a 10,000-pound transformer being hauled shifted and hit an overhead guidewire going from utility pole to utility pole.
“There is currently NO ETA for the roadway to be reopened,” the post said.
