In a week’s time, fans of all things Disney – including Star Wars – will be attending D23, Disney’s largest bi-annual fan event, taking place in Anaheim, California. The convention has traditionally been a good place for Star Wars fans to get news on upcoming projects, and this year looks to be no exception. Visitors to the Lucasfilm booth will get a look at props and costumes from the second season of Ahsoka, which is due out some time next year.

 

Lucasfilm released a guide for Star Wars fans over on the official website, letting fans know what’s on in the pavilion during the weekend of the event. Along with a breakdown of the various panels and meetups going on, it gave an overview of what to expect to see around the pavilion, and it looks like fans may get some story details for the second season, which so far have been thin on the ground:

 

And all weekend long at the Lucasfilm pavilion, explore an exciting array of photo ops, props and costumes from Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu as well as Ahsoka Season 2, and listen in on intimate fireside chats with the teams behind some of your favorite Star Wars shows and movies.

 

Props and costumes exhibits have usually been a good source of information – the props section sometimes gives our first look at spaceships, weapons and other items of significance and costumes may reveal new characters or information about familiar heroes and villains. These items, as well as giving a first visual look at the series, usually have a description to go alongside them, which may give some hints as to what we can expect when the story continues next year. It’s hard to tell whether the ‘intimate fireside chats’ will include the Ahsoka creative team, or just previous shows and movies, but here’s hoping!

 

 

The convention will kick off with a big Disney Studios showcase panel on Friday, where the major brands are expected to preview their development slate. In it, Dave Filoni will likely take the mic to speak on behalf of Lucasfilm for a few minutes. We expect a trailer for Ahsoka Season 2 to be shown, and some more details about it to be disclosed. An in-the-room preview for Star Wars: Starfighter may also be in play, especially as Jon Favreau already brought the first preview for The Mandalorian and Grogu to the last D23, when they were just a few weeks into filming.

 

There will also be an ‘Ahsoka Spotlight’ panel on Friday, featuring a conversation with Ezra Bridger himself, Eman Esfandi. The panel description says they will be discussing the making of the first season, but maybe he’ll let slip a few details about what’s to come. Also on Friday is a discussion with LEGO: Star Wars actress Shelby Young, who will discuss her work across numerous projects and will also give fans a sneak peek at the upcoming LEGO Star Wars: The Mandalorian. 

 

Saturday’s panels include a The Mandalorian and Grogu panel with Senior Vice President and Executive Design Director Doug Chiang – Doug’s panels are always worth attending and will likely give fans new insight into the making of Mando’s big-screen adventure. On Sunday ‘ The Making of Star Wars: The Experience’ will give a behind-the-scenes look into how the upcoming touring exhibition, which celebrates 50 years of Star Wars, was created. Also on the Sunday, Maul: Shadow Lord fans can meet head writer Matt Michnovetz to discuss the making of the smash-hit animated series. In addition to all this, there will be daily panels from Legacy Effects, showcasing their work bringing the Anzellans and other creatures to life, and meet-ups for The Mandalorian and Grogu fans.

 

Ahsoka Season 2 is currently set to debut on Disney Plus early 2027.
