Samsung’s newest rugged smartwatch is officially here. The Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra2 launched Friday, Aug. 7 and the updated model now features a bigger battery, brighter display and new outdoor fitness features to the brand’s premium Galaxy Watch lineup.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra2 retails for $699.99 and comes in a single 47mm LTE configuration. It is available in Titanium Silver and Titanium Gray through Samsung and other major retailers.
Samsung first unveiled the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 during its Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22, but the new smartwatch packs several notable upgrades over the previous Galaxy Watch Ultra. Samsung increased the battery capacity by 35% to 800mAh, with the watch rated for up to 60 hours of battery life with its always-on display enabled.

What’s new with the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra2?
One of the biggest changes is the display. The Galaxy Watch Ultra2 features a 1.52-inch Super AMOLED display capable of reaching up to 5,000 nits of brightness, compared with 3,000 nits on Samsung’s new Galaxy Watch9.
Samsung also made the watch 12% thinner despite adding the larger battery. The 47mm smartwatch retains its shock-resistant titanium casing and adds an IP69K rating alongside 10 ATM water resistance and MIL-STD-810H durability certification.
The Ultra2 also marks a bigger push into outdoor sports. A new Trail Run feature can track elevation, climbing progress and terrain impact, while Nutrition Alert uses estimated sweat loss to provide hydration guidance during supported activities.
Samsung is also taking the Ultra underwater. The Galaxy Watch Ultra2 is EN13319 certified for diving and can automatically track depth, dive time and water temperature. An Ultra2 Diving app developed with diving equipment brand Mares is expected later this year with additional features including ascent and descent speed tracking and safe dive limits.
Under the hood, Samsung replaced its previous smartwatch processor with Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon Wear Elite platform. The watch includes 2GB of memory, 64GB of storage, dual-frequency GPS, Bluetooth 6.0 and Wear OS 7 with Samsung’s One UI 9 Watch.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra2 is compatible with Android phones running Android 13 or later and is available starting Aug. 7.
