WAUKESHA — Twelve Waukesha County high schools were represented as the Waukesha Tennis Association concluded its summer tennis program with the Greater Waukesha Tennis Open singles and doubles tournaments on Friday.
The WTA serves over 200 middle school and high school youths each summer at Heyer Park in Waukesha. The top place-getters include Waukesha County schools such as Waukesha South, Waukesha North, Kettle Moraine, Brookfield Academy, Brookfield Central, Muskego, Arrowhead, Mukwonago and New Berlin Eisenhower. Waukesha County was also represented by Waukesha West, Pewaukee, and Chesterton Academy.
Among varsity girls, Ritisha Mathur of Brookfield Academy defeated Olivia Stout of Hartford 6-3 in the singles championship after knocking off BA teammate Rachel York 6-2 in the semifinals. Stout advanced the finals with a 6-4 victory over Muskego’s Emily Reinsel.
In the doubles championship, Kettle Moraine‘s Elizabeth Spence and Arrowhead‘s Eleri Wells defeated Joy Saller and Hope Saller of St. Thomas More 6-4.
Alexa Darin and Estelle Hoffe of Kettle Moraine defeated Brookfield Central‘s Rhea Maheshwari and New Berlin Eisenhower‘s Kaavya Shahir 6-3 to take third place.
For the varsity boys, Henry Hyde of Brookfield Central defeated Quinn Jeffers of Waukesha South 6-3 in the singles red group championship. In the singles blue group final, James Darin of Kettle Moraine downed Stan Hesse of Waukesha North 6-4.
Emilio Zavala and Quinn Jeffers of Waukesha South defeated Ethan Landis and Aryav Agarwal of Brookfield Central 6-1 in the doubles championship. In the third-place bout, Nolan Dodson and Zach Dodson of Mukwonago defeated high school teammates Tyler Erbs and Jacob Basten 6-4.
