A father and son outing turned into a memorable milestone after Bradford teen Atticus Moore recorded a hole in one on the 17th hole
At 13, Atticus Moore has accomplished something most golfers don’t achieve in their entire lives.
Atticus scored a hole in one on the 17th hole at Crimson Ridge on Wednesday.
Astoundingly, it was only the second time he had played golf.
“It felt great. It was a nice feeling. Can you imagine? The second time I ever played,” Atticus told SooToday.
“I was speechless.”
Atticus used a seven iron for his hole-in-one shot.
The 17th hole at Crimson Ridge is a par 3.
“I’ve been to the driving range a couple of times before but I’ve only really played golf starting this year,” Atticus said.
He played a round of golf at Crimson Ridge with his father, Bryan Moore.
Atticus and Bryan, who joined a Sault couple to make up a foursome on Wednesday, are from Bradford, Ont.
The Moore family was in town visiting Atticus’ grandmother, a Sault resident.
“I couldn’t believe it,” Bryan said of his son’s hole in one.
He said he’s played golf since he was in his teens but has never gotten a hole in one.
Does that inspire him to strive for one?
“Yeah, for sure,” Bryan said with a laugh.
“At first Atticus didn’t really realize the magnitude of how rare it is to get a hole in one,” Bryan said.
He realizes it now though.
“He’s been swinging his arms around like he’s got a golf club in his hands. We’ve been to a driving range already today,” Bryan said yesterday.
“Atticus has got the itch for sure.”
