We’ve reached the quarter-final stage in Montreal and Toronto, with Iga Swiatek, Rafael Jodar and Elina Svitolina among the headline names looking to seal their place in the last four of the Canadian Open.
04:00 CET – Elina Svitolina comes from behind to defeat Ekaterina Alexandrova 3-6, 6-0, 6-3 in Toronto after winning 12 of the last 15 games!
She now holds the most wins on tour this year (41), surpassing Jessica Pegula as she marches on to her fourth WTA 1000 semi-finals this year.
Svitolina will now face off against Iga Swiatek, who defeated Shnaider earlier in the day 6-2, 6-1.

Svitolina defeated Swiatek in the Italian Open semi-finals 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 earlier this year before going on to defeat Coco Gauff in the title.
The two still have a chance to meet once again in another final as Gauff is set to face Belinda Bencic on Tuesday in their quarter-finals matchup.

02:22 CET – The men’s matches in Montreal between Rafael Jodan-Arthur Fils and Luciano Darderi-Brandon Nakashima have been canceled for the night due to rain.
Both matches will now take place on Tuesday, starting off with Darderi-Nakashima at 18:30 CET, then Jodan-Fils afterwards.
Over in Toronto, Alexandrova and Svitolina will soon square off to see who goes on to face Swiatek in the final.

This also marks her first WTA 1000 semi-final of 2026 as she’s now a win away from claiming her first title of the year.

02:10 CET – The matchup between Jodar and Fils is still in a rain delay. Meanwhile, Swiatek leads Diana Shnaider 6-2, 4-1 in Toronto as they’re currently in the second set.
01:00 CET – Courts are being dried off in Montreal ahead of the Rafael Jodar-Arthur Fils matchup, with an estimated 45-60-minute wait time until the match begins if the rain holds out.
23:18 CET – First up in Toronto, six-time Grand Slam champion Swiatek will go up against Schnaider in a clash between two hugely talented players who have endured relatively disappointing years.
Swiatek has made it to the final four of a tournament just once in 2026 and has seldom played at a level where she’s looked like ending her long wait for another title. However, the Pole has been looking good this weekend, not dropping a set in her first two matches before beating Marta Kostyuk to avenge her French Open defeat.
Shnaider, meanwhile, has only gone deep into a tournament at Roland Garros this season, but claimed her best win of the year outside of Paris last time out when she saw off Jessica Pegula.
This will only be the second meeting between the two, and the first saw Swiatek win a tight battle in Madrid last year. That, and her overall pedigree, make her the favourite.

21:40 CET – We still have a few hours to go until the clash between Jodar and Fils, but rest assured, it’ll be worth the wait.
This year, the two have established themselves as two of the biggest talents around, and two of the players most likely to challenge Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner in the future.
Jodar has done so with impressive runs in Rome and at the French Open, while Fils won the Barcelona title either side of strong showings in Madrid and Miami.
Both of their career meetings have come in 2026, with Fils prevailing in Barcelona before Jodar claimed revenge in Washington.

Play gets started in a few hours at 00:00 CET, with Spanish sensation Rafael Jodar taking on the immensely talented Arthur Fils, in what is a repeat of last week’s Washington opener, which Jodar won in straight sets.
Following that clash, 19th-seeded Italian Luciano Darderi comes up against Brandon Nakashima, as the American gets ready to contest his first-ever quarter-final at Masters 1000 level.
Meanwhile, in Toronto, seventh seed Iga Swiatek faces Diana Shnaider in the opening women’s quarter-final, as the misfiring Pole looks to move a step closer to a first title in nearly 12 months.
Rounding off the action is 2017 champion Elina Svitolina, who takes on the experienced Ekaterina Alexandrova, with the pair meeting for the first time since June 2021.
