One sentence in the news release issued by the Cavaliers announcing their 2026-27 schedule has fans fretting:

“Local game telecast information will be announced at a later date.”

Cavaliers games and those of some other NBA teams when not on national television were televised on FanDuel Sports last season, but operations were shut down by the service’s parent company, Main Street Sports Groups, at the end of the 2025-26 regular NBA season and the Stanley Cup playoffs in the NHL.

According to reports, the Cavaliers are working out a deal to sell their local television rights to the British streaming company DAZN. DAZN stands for “Da Zone.” The streaming service specializes in soccer and boxing. DAZN offers NFL Game Pass to subscribers outside the United States and China, so if the Cavs do finalize an agreement with DAZN, fans should take comfort knowing the streaming service is reliable.

The regular season for the Cavaliers begins Oct. 22 with a game against the 76ers in Philadelphia. It will be televised on ESPN.

The home opener at Rocket Arena is Saturday Oct. 24 vs. the Nets. That game would be televised locally, as would the next four games – Timberwolves at Cavaliers on Oct. 26, Wizards at Cavaliers on Oct. 28, Cavs at Hawks on Oct. 29 and Cavaliers at Bucks on Oct. 31.

The Cavaliers have more than two months to finalize local streaming rights. We will be ready with updates when they are available.

• Seventeen weekend games are on the Cavaliers’ home schedule — two Friday night games, nine Saturday games and six Sunday games. The schedule released for each team shows 80 games, even though an NBA regular season is 82 games. Two additional games will be added at a later date pending the outcome of Emirates NBA Cup matchups in December.

The Cavaliers will be on national television 17 times in the upcoming regular season. Following is the list of nationally televised games broken down by network:

Six games on ESPN/ESPN App: Oct. 22 at Philadelphia,, Nov. 11 at New York, Jan. 27 vs. Detroit, Jan. 29 at Toronto, Feb. 26 at Boston and April 7 at San Antonio

Four games on NBC/Peacock: Dec. 15 vs. San Antonio, Dec. 28 at Boston, Jan. 18 vs. Detroit (Martin Luther King Day) and March 9 at Detroit

Four games on Peacock exclusively: Nov. 2 vs. Oklahoma City, Dec. 21 vs. New York, March 1 vs. Philadelphia and March 29 vs. Miami.

Three games on Amazon Prime Video: Nov. 6 vs. Philadelphia (also on ESPN Radio), March 6 vs. Atlanta and April 1 vs. Boston
