Thursday is the NBA’s official schedule release day, which means all 30 teams now have 80 games on their slate to play (the final two will be determined by the Emirates Cup standings following group play). Naturally, this marks a pretty good time to start canvassing the league to see how teams stack up. There’s no better way to do that than by visiting our friends at the FanDuel Sportsbook to see every team’s win total. With the Western Conference out of the way, it’s time to run through the East.

Borderline contenders in a normal year, favorites this year

O/U 55.5 wins (-140/+106)

Can the Cavs recreate the magic that was last year’s season? The bar is set awfully high. Some tweaks to the bench and plenty of internal development in year two under Kenny Atkinson are what Cleveland is banking on heading into the year.

O/U 53.5 wins (-120/-110)

Last year, this number got to 54.5 and they cruised under due to a late Jalen Brunson injury. Under new coach Mike Brown, will they be better?

Normally not contenders, but must be seen as one this year

O/U 50.5 wins (-130/-102)

Is this an overreaction to the Desmond Bane trade? Or is this an underreaction, considering how injured they were last year and how good of a coach Mosley is?

O/U: 46.5 wins (-104/-128)

The Hawks have undergone a facelift around Trae Young, as they bring in Kristaps Porzingis, Nickiel Alexander-Walker and Luke Kennard to flank Young, reigning Defensive Player of the Year Dyson Daniels and do it all forward Jalen Johnson.

O/U 44.5 wins (-114/-114)

This is a TWENTY-win jump from last year’s opening number. The Pistons remain one of my favorite watches in the league, as watching Cade Cunningham develop into a superstar is awfully fun.

O/U 42.5 wins (-130/-102)

Giannis has decided to not ask for a trade, which is great news for basketball fans. However, this Bucks front office isn’t doing him any favors. The waiving and stretching of Dame Lillard was a truly wild move, but it allowed them to add Myles Turner. We’ll see what he can drag this group to this year.

O/U 41.5 wins (-132/+100)

Speaking of teams decimated by injury, I present to you the Philadelphia 76ers. If you know anything about the Sixers this year, you’re lying to yourself. They could do truly do anything this year, both the good and the bad.

O/U 39.5 wins (+108/-144)

Is Heat Culture washed? Many people are saying! However, in an Eastern Conference like this, they are still squarely placed in the contender tier.

O/U 37.5 wins (-114/-114)

Another team that needs to pick a direction and go. Perhaps parting ways with their General Manager this offseason will help them decide.

O/U 42.5 wins (-122/-108)

This will likely be a gap year for the 2024 Champions, who will likely be without Jayson Tatum for the season as he recovers from a torn Achillies. However, Mazzulla and Stevens have proven to be a good coach and GM tandem and should not be underestimated.

Man. What an absolute bummer this is. Myles Turner exits to bitter rival Milwaukee, Tyrese Haliburton will miss the year with an Achillies, and that championship window got slammed shut awfully fast.

O/U 20.5 wins (-130/-102)

Call me crazy, but I think the Wizards could be somewhat competitive next year. I like some of the pieces they have, and Tre Johnson is one of my favorite players in this rookie class. They won’t be good, but feisty? They can do that.

O/U 20.5 wins (-108/-122)

With five different 2025 first round picks potentially on the roster, this is shaping up to be another rebuilding year. However, my bold prediction is that the Nets play a huge role in determining the 2026 NBA Finals because of their ability to take in salary at the trade deadline.

O/U 27.5 wins (-118/-112)

Kon Kneuppel could bring a stabilizing presence to the Queen city. We’ll see if LaMelo Ball, Brandon Miller and the others can stay healthy, though.

O/U 30.5 wins (-130/-102)

Are the Bulls finally pivoting into a rebuild? We shall see, but this win total sure thinks they won’t be as middling as they were the past few years. A shame to see this once proud franchise fall into the depths of mid they’re in.
