Walhalla asks residents to limit water use after major line break
WALHALLA, S.C. —
The City of Walhalla, South Carolina, is asking residents to restrict water usage after a major line break caused outages Saturday evening.
According to the city’s water department, a major line break several miles outside of the city limit resulted in a “substantial loss” that drained the water storage tanks.
The loss reportedly created widespread pressure loss and service issues for residents.
Officials say crews worked through the night alongside the Westminster Water Department to locate the issue and make repairs.
According to the city, repairs have been made to the line, but as the water tanks refill, customers will need to limit their water use.
This means refraining from activities involving large volumes of water, such as watering lawns and washing cars, the city reports.
The city did not give an estimate for how long it will be before the tanks are filled.
