Rochester, N.Y. — Cake lovers will gather under Highland Park’s iconic purple arches on Saturday for Cake Fest ROC, a “cake picnic” where every guest is asked to bring a dessert to share.
Organizers describe the festival as a community-centered gathering built around the idea that each attendee contributes a dessert, turning the day into a shared experience that highlights cake decorating while giving local bakers, sugar artists and small businesses a chance to connect with the community.
This year’s event is expected to be larger, with a theme inspired by the “timeless elegance of Bridgerton.”
Organizers said guests can expect elaborate cake artistry, an immersive atmosphere, local bakers and the same bring-a-dessert format, along with a curated lineup of local vendors, photo opportunities and a luxury picnic setup.
“We have a big baking community in Rochester,” said Cake Fest ROC organizer, Alexxis Ellison. Of course, there’s the food and restaurant community, but we felt that there weren’t enough bakers coming together and often when you’re in business, there’s a lot of competition but we decided to highlight community over competition. So, I reached out to a bunch of our local bakers and they helped bring this together.”
Beyond the cakes, organizers said the festival is meant to celebrate creativity, entrepreneurship and local talent.
