Cows escape Lebanon County barn before fire leaves it gutted, chief says
JACKSON TOWNSHIP, Pa. —
A fire destroyed a barn in Lebanon County early Monday morning.
According to dispatchers, crews responded to the blaze at Wengers of Myerstown in the 200 block of South Race Street in Jackson Township around 2:30 a.m.
Flames engulfed a barn, leaving it gutted.
According to Keystone Fire Company Chief Mike Shaak, crews wheeled in water from a nearby creek and other fire hydrants because there were no hydrants close to the scene.

According to the fire chief, no one was injured. All the cows that were in the barn at the time made it out safely.
The chief said the barn was filled with hay. Crews are working to put out any hot spots.
The cause remains under investigation.
