Days after celebrating his 54th birthday, Ben Affleck treated two of his kids, Violet and Fin, to dinner in Los Angeles. On the evening of August 22, the three of them were photographed outside Fia, a restaurant in Santa Monica.
In pictures obtained by the Daily Mail, Affleck paired a button-down with black pants, while his 20-year-old daughter wore a lilac cardigan, a red skirt, and sneakers. 17-year-old Fin, meanwhile, layered some baggy overalls over a black-and-white striped shirt, accessorizing with a pair of Vans.

Affleck shares Violet, Fin, and 14-year-old Samuel with his ex-wife, actress Jennifer Garner. He and the 13 Going on 30 star were married from 2005 to 2018, but have remained amicable as co-parents.
A couple of weeks ago, Garner joined Affleck and their kids to celebrate his birthday. All five of them stepped out in L.A. on August 15, per the Daily Mail, where they stopped by the gourmet grocery store Farmshop. It also marked one of Affleck’s first outings since the passing of his mother, Chris, who died at the age of 83 in June following a battle with pancreatic cancer. According to The Hollywood Reporter, she was diagnosed with the disease in December 2025.

Chris, whose full name was Christopher Anne Affleck, was born in New York City in December 1942. She went on to study at Harvard and work as a teacher. She was also a vocal advocate for civil rights and was even one of the first Freedom Riders who traveled to the South in the 1960s. As an activist, she also marched against the Vietnam War and later campaigned for Barack Obama.
She and her then-husband Timothy Affleck welcomed Ben in 1972, followed by son Casey Affleck in 1975. The boys were raised in Boston. When Ben was 12, Chris and Timothy filed for divorce.

In 2012, Ben made rare comments about his upbringing in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “My mother taught public school, went to Harvard and then got her master’s there and taught fifth and sixth grade in a public school,” he said. “My dad had a more working-class lifestyle. He didn’t go to college. He was an auto mechanic and a bartender and a janitor at Harvard.”
