HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – Alabama men’s basketball will take on Kennesaw State at the Von Braun Center’s Propst Arena on December 21, city officials announced Thursday.
The game will mark the first time Alabama has played a regular season game in Propst Arena since 2019. Last year, Alabama and Memphis squared off in a preseason game at the arena.
“College basketball has never been bigger in the state and we’re excited to welcome Alabama and Kennesaw State back to Huntsville this year,” Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle said. “This event continues to grow each year and we look forward to celebrating all things Huntsville during the game.”
Kennesaw State, one of the preseason favorites in Conference USA, is coached by former Tide star Antoine Pettway.
Alabama is coming off a 28-9 season that included a trip to the Elite 8.
“We are excited to return to Huntsville and face an exceptional program in Kennesaw State, led by Antoine Pettway who is synonymous with Alabama basketball,” said Alabama head coach Nate Oats. “The Rocket City Classic provides an amazing atmosphere and we are looking forward to playing in front of Tide fans at the Von Braun Center.”
Tickets go on sale on August 19 at 10 a.m.
