West Virginia (CNN) – One West Virginia is marking a significant milestone: internet access.

Green Bank Elementary-Middle School in Pocahontas County is now allowed to use wi-fi for the first time.

The school’s location near the Green Bank Observatory meant it was previously unable to have wi-fi because of the National Radio Quiet Zone.

It has now gotten the green light to finally install wireless internet, more than 25 years after the technology was introduced.

Green Bank Observatory officials say the quiet zone regulations were adopted in the late 1950s, long before anyone could have predicted the modern technology needs of today.
