Throughout two preseason contests, it would be an understatement to say that the Kansas City Chiefs’ backup offensive linemen have underwhelmed.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Chiefs are sending a 2028 seventh-round pick to the New York Giants in return for guard Joshua Ezeudu.
The Giants selected Ezeudu in the third round (67th overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft. The 6-foot-4, 310-pound North Carolina product has appeared in 33 games over his first three seasons in New York, with ten starts. He has played at both left guard and left tackle.
Ezeudu did not play in 2025 due to a calf injury. He re-signed with the Giants in March.
Kansas City will need to make a corresponding move to put Ezeudu on the 90-man roster. The Chiefs currently have 15 offensive linemen on their active roster ahead of Sunday’s mandatory cutdown to 53 players.

I just wanted to add further context on Ezeudu: he has lined up at left tackle for 402 regular-season snaps, and left guard for 317 regular-season snaps, according to Pro Football Focus. In his most recent active seasons, 2024 and 2023, he was primarily a left tackle.
Over four seasons at North Carolina, Ezeudu played left guard for 1,247 snaps, left tackle for 508 snaps and right tackle for 171.
