Star Wars Zero Company

Metacritic

Star Wars Zero Company, the new turn-based strategy game set in the “Twilight of the Clone Wars,” is out Thursday. Reviews have come in for the Bit Reactor Star Wars release and, as it stands, it’s one of the highest-scoring AAA Metacritic-rated games of 2026. But more importantly, it has hit a wild Star Wars game milestone.

Star Wars Zero Company has an 86 on Metacritic with 41 reviews for the PC version of the game. While that score places it among the highest-scored big games of 2026, it’s also the highest Metacritic-scoring Star Wars game in 22 years. S

We can pause here for a game that ties Zero Company — believe it or not, it’s Angry Birds Star Wars. Though I don’t exactly want to count that game, as I probably wouldn’t have counted, say, Star Wars Pinball. Plus the Angry Birds game has far fewer reviews.

If we keep going, we land all the way back in 2004, where the legendary Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II – Sith Lords also has an 86. The first game to truly beat it? The original Knights of the Old Republic with a 94 in 2003. Wow.

Is Zero Company a better game than, say, Jedi Survivor? That is subjective, and we’re only talking about a point difference here. But clearly, this is one of the best Star Wars games in the saga’s history, and if turn-based strategy is your genre, this is clearly something to pick up. The game has launched as I write this, so we’ll see how many players hop on for launch day. It’s certainly not going to be one of the biggest sellers of the year, but it is obviously quite an accomplishment.

As for what’s next: The closest release is Star Wars: Galactic Racer a little more than a month from now. We also know a third Jedi game is supposed to be coming at some point. Fate of the Old Republic is further down the line. Star Wars Eclipse will come after that.

It’s pretty hard to make a great Star Wars game these days, and we’ll see if Zero Company can hold this spot.
