We’re about a week away from the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Berlin.

The Liberty have more than a handful of confirmed players across five nations for the tournament, which runs Sept. 4-13.

Here’s a tracker of confirmed players on the Liberty roster who will pack their bags and compete for a gold medal. We’ll also highlight players projected to make the squad and those who aren’t participating in the international games.

USA

Breanna Stewart headlines a star-studded Team USA roster set to take aim at a fifth consecutive women’s World Cup title. She becomes one of just three U.S. players to appear in at least four World Cups (Sue Bird, 5; Diana Taurasi, 4) after being selected for the 2026 FIBA tournament.

Stewart is set to depart for Berlin after the Liberty’s home game against the Chicago Sky on Saturday afternoon.

FRANCE

Pauline Astier and Marine Johannes will play on a French National Team who are favorites to medal in the competition. The European power is looking for revenge after suffering a heartbreaking one-point loss against Team USA in the gold medal game of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

“Losing by [one point in the Olympics] was something huge for us [and] French basketball in general. Also, the result on the men’s side was really good,” said Johannes, referencing the French men’s national team’s loss in the gold-medal game to USA in the 2024 Olympics. “Think we are using that… we want to keep pushing, keep working all together. I think now we are finding a good chemistry with players and also staff. I think we understand [each other more].”

Johannes said her flight to Berlin is on Saturday evening — hours after the end of the Liberty-Sky matchup.

CHINA

Han Xu will report to the Chinese National Team, the center told the Daily News recently.

Her upcoming World Cup appearance comes on the heels of the center helping the nation to a bronze medal in the 2025 Asia Cup.

GERMANY

Leonie Fiebich, who had her World Cup participation in question due to a left foot injury, returned to action and is set to play for the host nation. She confirmed her attendance to German media this month.

Fiebich will depart to her home country after Saturday’s Liberty game, per Liberty head coach Chris DeMarco.

SPAIN

Raquel Carrera, who averaged 9.2 points and 3.8 rebounds in the World Cup qualifying tournament, is on the Spanish roster, she told The News.

Carrera is set to leave New York Saturday evening.

The national team has yet to make a formal roster announcement, but Carrera said the squad will consist of four other WNBA players: Toronto’s Maria Conde, Seattle’s Awa Fam, Portland’s Megan DiLeo (formerly known as Megan Gustafson), Washington’s Alicia Florez.

“I think we have a good team,” Carrera said.

UNCONFIRMED

Liberty developmental player Elizabeth Balogun, who signed with the team earlier this month, hasn’t publicly stated her status. And the national team has yet to make a formal announcement.

The wing averaged 10.6 points and 3.4 rebounds for Nigeria during qualifying.

NOT PLAYING

Satou Sabally won’t play for Germany as she recovers from injury. The star has played just 13 of 38 games for the Liberty this season, and is currently not with the team while recovering.

Marine Fauthoux wasn’t selected to the French team after appearing in the 2024 Olympics.

Sabrina Ionescu was left off Team USA’s roster. The guard said she is now focusing on making the roster for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.

Jonquel Jones will spend her FIBA break working out and spending time in her native Bahamas.

Rebecca Allen, Rebekah Gardner and Anneli Maley all aren’t participating in the World Cup.
