The American is a six-time PGA Tour winner and added another victory to his resume this season at the Charles Schwab Classic. He also challenged for a major championship, mounting a charge on Sunday at The Masters to finish T3, behind only Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler.
But despite all those years of consistent play, he still managed to do something during round one of this year’s Tour Championship that he has never achieved before.

Henley endured a frustrating opening round at the Tour Championship, as he sits tied for last in the field at even par. But the way he got there made history.
He had a completely clean scorecard, making 18 pars during his opening round. This is the first time he has ever done this in his PGA Tour career dating back to 2013.

It’s also the first time anyone has had 18 pars in a round at East Lake in 24 years. Ernie Els was the last to do it during his third round in Atlanta all the way back in 2002.
It might not have been the start that Henley wanted to his Tour Championship, but with his first round he has written his name into the history books.
