FULLERTON, Calif. (KCAL/KCBS) – A California man is facing charges after his son was injured while riding a modified e-motorcycle.
A dash camera recorded the moment the 12-year-old Yorba Linda boy ran a red light on an e-motorcycle and collided with a car.

The crash resulted in criminal charges against the boy’s father, Richard Eyssallenne.
Eyssallenne’s preliminary hearing was held Tuesday.
The 40-year-old is accused of felony child endangerment and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
An interview with Eyssallenne at the hospital, shown on a sheriff’s deputy’s body-worn camera, is some of the evidence being used by the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
“He’s only supposed to stay in the neighborhood right there,” Eyssallenne told the deputy.
The district attorney said Eyssallenne helped his son unlawfully modify an e-motorcycle to make it go faster.
The minimum age to operate an e-motorcycle is 16, and a driver’s license is required.
Deputies said they cited the middle school student a year before the 2025 crash for illegally riding an e-motorcycle.
The boy, his younger brother and his father went to an e-bike safety seminar afterward, and the motorcycle was impounded.
Deputy Kiana Lewis responded to the recent Yorba Linda crash and testified at the preliminary hearing.
Lewis contacted Child Protective Services after the crash.
“I felt that, based off of all the information that I had, that they needed to be involved because the same e-bike was involved in two separate incidents, and it was brought to my attention that maybe there wasn’t sound decision-making,” Lewis testified.
Eyssallenne has pleaded not guilty.
If convicted of all counts, Eyssallenne faces up to six years in state prison, prosecutors said.
