JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The WNBA came calling for Jacksonville Waves player Shyanne Sellers.
Two days after the Waves’ season ended with a five-point loss in the inaugural Upshot League championship game, Sellers became the first Jacksonville player to land with a WNBA team. The guard is headed to the Los Angeles Sparks as a developmental player.
Sellers is the fourth player in the Upshot’s brief history to make the jump from the upstart league to the W. Michelle Onyiah (Indiana Fever), Christyn Williams (Dallas Wings), and Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda (Los Angeles Sparks) have also moved on from Upshot to the W.
Sellers averaged 13.3 points and 4.2 rebounds a game for the Waves. She averaged 30.7 minutes per game.
