Some breaking news is expected this morning, and from what I’m hearing, there will be an official statement later today: Matt Winston is leaving Team Picnic PostNL and will take on a management role as sports director at the Decathlon CMA CGM Team in 2027.
Winston joined Team Picnic PostNL in 2019 and has been part of much of the team’s success. From what I understand, Winston, who worked at British Cycling and One Pro Cycling, handed in his resignation a few weeks ago and will step down from his full-time duties at the end of the current road season.

Over the years, several teams had tried to bring Winston over from Team Picnic PostNL, but he has remained loyal to the team’s project.

The team have struggled for results this year on the road, but that doesn’t appear to be part of Winston’s decision-making. From what I understand, there’s no animosity with the split; Winston simply felt that it was time for a new challenge, and that the offer from Decathlon was too good to turn down.
