FALLS CREEK — A Jefferson County woman is accused of leading police on a high speed chase and then breaking into a residence to hide from them on Aug. 5.

State police in DuBois have charged Cassidy Lynn Douglas, 30, of Brookville, with one count of fleeing or attempting to elude a pursuing police officer and one count of criminal trespassing by breaking into a structure, each felonies in the third degree, and nine traffic violations, according to a criminal complaint filed at Magisterial District Judge David Inzana’s office Aug. 13.

On Aug. 5, 2025, state police in DuBois were on patrol on Route 950 in Falls Creek Borough when the officer observed a black sedan traveling toward the police car at a high rate of speed. The radar unit indicated the vehicle was going 56 miles per hour in a 35 mile-per-hour zone. The officer pulled out to conduct a traffic stop, when it became apparent that the sedan was allegedly not stopping and continuing to accelerate at a high rate of speed down Route 950, according to the affidavit of probable cause. Upon pursuit, police reached a speed of 106 miles per hour.

Sight of the sedan was lost and the officer continued to canvas the area. He was then notified by a trooper that he had observed a vehicle matching this description on Smithtown Road in Washington Township. Further information provided was that the sedan turned onto a “no outlet road,” and was followed by the trooper down Gun Boat Road. The vehicle was identified as a 2014 Audi A8. The trooper approached the vehicle on this road, which was not occupied. The driver, identified as Douglas, was observed to be inside of the residence on Gun Boat Road in Reynoldsville. She initially said this was “a family home” and that she knew the residents. It was established by the residents in that home that they did not know Douglas.

Another state police officer arrived on scene, at which time Douglas was inside of her vehicle speaking to the trooper, but then allegedly fled the residence and drove past his patrol unit as his vehicle had the driveway partially blocked. Police were able to also link Douglas to the registered owner of the Audi 8.

Multiple officers canvassed the area near the Gun Boat Road residence, which yielded negative results. Additionally, police made contact with the registered owner of the vehicle, who stated they had made contact with Douglas via text message and “attempted to have her surrender,” to which she allegedly denied.

On Aug. 6, 2025, Douglas arrived at the state police barracks in DuBois and turn herself in. She reportedly denied answering any questions at that time.

A preliminary hearing date for Douglas has not been set yet, according to court documents.
