Interestingly, Jon Rahm was actually the number one ranked player when rumors of his impending move to LIV Golf began to circulate.
The Spaniard eventually committed to joining LIV Golf at the end of 2023, and he made his first start with the league in February 2024.
Since Jon Rahm made his move to LIV, Scottie Scheffler has gone from strength to strength, and he has been ranked as the world number one golfer from May 2023 right up to the present day.
The 30-year-old from Dallas has 22 PGA Tour wins to his name, including four majors, while the Spaniard has recorded 11 PGA Tour victories, including two majors, and four LIV Golf wins.

Just last month, Scheffler suggested that he wanted Rahm back on the PGA Tour.
And it seems like he may be about to get his wish.
Scottie Scheffler should be desperate for Jon Rahm to make PGA Tour return
Rahm is apparently out of LIV 2.0 and he will undoubtedly be plotting his way back to the PGA Tour.
Whether he is handed a similar deal to the one given to Brooks Koepka remains to be seen, but Scheffler should be desperate for the Spaniard to come back immediately.

Earlier this week, Scheffler’s caddie, Ted Scott, revealed just how driven the world number one is to beat everyone he faces.
“I remember whenever all the LIV stuff was going on, you know, he was number one in the world at the time,“ Scott explained.
“I didn’t know, but I said, ‘they’re probably going to offer you like $250 million to go over there’.

“And he said, ‘I don’t care what they offer me. They can offer me a billion dollars. I’m going to play where the best players are because I just want to beat people’.“
And Scheffler’s competitive nature is exactly why he should be begging for Rahm to come back to the PGA Tour.
Scottie Scheffler will relish the prospect of Jon Rahm’s PGA Tour return
Aside from Scheffler and Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm is considered to be one of the best golfers in the world.
On his day, the 31-year-old can be incredibly tough to beat. However, Scheffler will undoubtedly relish the challenge of getting one over the Spaniard.
Some golf fans and analysts have put an asterisk over Scheffler’s dominance over the past few years due to the fact that Rahm and Bryson Dechambeau have been absent from the PGA Tour since 2023 and 2022 respectively.
Personally, I don’t agree with that notion, but Scottie Scheffler would much prefer to win golf tournaments with Jon Rahm in the field. There is absolutely no doubt about that.
Scheffler’s consistency over the past few years has been such that it’s hard to imagine he would have any fewer wins to his name had Rahm remained on the PGA Tour.
However, there will always be golf fans who question whether Scheffler would have been as dominant had Rahm been playing in the same tournaments as the world number one.
The two-time major champion coming back to the PGA Tour would give Scheffler the chance to put those doubts to bed once and for all.
