The Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR) released its economic report for July 2025, which indicates that the state’s unemployment rate has remained stable at 5.4 percent, DETR officials say.

The report indicates the labor force has seen a slight decrease of 638 jobs. Currently, there are a total of 1,574,300 nonfarm jobs in Nevada, reflecting an increase of 0.5 percent over the past year, along with a gain of 1,100 jobs since June 2025.

Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) Employment (Seasonally Adjusted):

Las Vegas employment increased by 4,200 jobs (0.4%) since June, an increase of 2,100 jobs (0.2%) since July 2024.Reno employment had an increase of 100 jobs (0.03%) since June, an increase of 3,200 jobs (1.1%) since July 2024.Carson City employment had a decrease of 200 jobs (-0.6%) since June, an increase of 0 jobs (0.0%) since July 2024.

“July’s report continues to show a relatively steady labor market compared to June, with the unemployment rate unchanged at 5.4%. While the state added 1,100 jobs over the month, this was concentrated in government employment and is likely related to the larger-than-normal decline in school district employment last month. Meanwhile, the private sector lost jobs over the month, falling by 1,200. The private sector has lost jobs in 5 of 7 months so far in 2025, and in 7 of the previous 12 months,” said David Schmidt, chief economist.
