Manaia Ogbechie and Andi Jackson each had two kills when the match was stopped again.
Players from both teams started a dance battle during the second stoppage, then then left the court and went back to the locker rooms. An announcement regarding a “15-minute break” was made to the 40,000-plus — more than the attendance during the World Series.
Both teams then left the court and went back to the locker rooms, while stadium workers continued to towel off the court in an attempt to start the match again. But play never resumed.
Players returned to the court and NU’s four seniors — Reilly, Harper Murray, Andi Jackson and Laney Choboy — addressed the Sea of Red inside Wrigley Field just after the suspension was announced at 10:35.
The Big Ten released a statement shortly after.
“Due to weather conditions affecting the court surface, Sunday’s volleyball match between Nebraska and Missouri has been suspended,” the release said. “Despite best efforts and in collaboration with all parties, rescheduling at Wrigley Field is not possible. A decision on match continuation at the point of suspension will be announced at a later date.”
