What a wonderful weekend for non-televised television awards. The Emmys are this weekend. Well, not all of them. Just the Emmys that you don’t get to see on TV. They used to be called the Creative Arts Emmys, but the Television Academy decided to get rid of that distinction. They’re all just Emmys now, some live on NBC and some not. A highlight reel of the Emmys will be shown during the Emmys on September 14, so that Emmy-goers can see Emmy winners win Emmys. And if that confusing sentence makes you long for the days when you could just call them the Creative Arts Emmys, you aren’t alone.

On night one, My Mom Jayne, The Muppet Show and The Late Show With Stephen Colbert cleaned up. Mariska Hargitay won two awards the weekend before she hosts the live show, which is a nice practice run. The Late Show won for writing, short form comedy, picture editing, technical direction and camerawork, and lighting design — all a fond farewell to the show. Colbert has a chance for a big speech on the 14th, when Outstanding Variety Series is televised. The Muppet Show won Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded), Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special, Outstanding Picture Editing for a Variety Special and Outstanding Production Design for a Variety Special. Will that be enough for Disney to greenlight a full series? We can only hope.

Night two saw the main show juggernauts emerge from the fray. Margo’s Got Money Troubles, The Pitt, and Widow’s Bay all picked up hecka trophies. Ernest Harden Jr. won the guest star-off between his other patients. Looks like the method acting (stopping his heart medication in order to play a dying man) paid off. Below, a full list of the Creative Arts Emmy winners.
