A rabid raccoon was captured in Raleigh on Sunday.
Raleigh Animal Control received reports of a raccoon on Chadwick Drive staggering and walking in circles.
Animal Control removed the raccoon and received a positive rabies test result on Tuesday.
This is the second rabid raccoon in Raleigh and the fourth confirmed case of rabies in the city this year.
Officials said the raccoon came into contact with a dog, and they were placed under a 45-day quarantine. The dog will be monitored by the Raleigh Police Animal Control team.

How to minimize rabies risk:
Do not approach animals you do not know.
Make sure pets have a current rabies vaccination.
Do not feed stray or unknown animals.
Do not leave trash or food outside unless it is in a bin with a tightly closed lid.
If a pet is fed outside, do not leave the food out overnight.
If a pet comes in contact with an animal that may be rabid, contact a veterinarian immediately.
