A Skagit County Superior Court judge has ordered Skagit Golf and Country Club to halt construction on its new turf care center until the court rules on a Land Use Petition Act appeal.
The order issued Friday halts construction on the country club’s 10,500-square-foot building that would serve as a turf care center. The building would replace the previous 4,000-square-foot maintenance shed at 12352 Eleventh Tee Lane west of Burlington.
Appealing construction of the turf care center is Dean Shaughnessy, who lives next to the proposed site.
He filed a Land Use Petition Act appeal in March, and another in July, challenging the building permit granted to the country club by Skagit County.
Shaughnessy has since requested that the LUPA appeal filed in March be dismissed.
The country club had resumed construction on the turf center on June 8 after the Skagit County Board of Commissioners denied Shaughnessy’s an appeal before the board challenging the building permit and the county Hearing Examiner’s findings that allowed for the permit.
The judge’s order to halt construction will last until the court addresses a request by the county and the country club to dismiss the case, and Shaughnessy’s appeal.
The county has requested Shaughnessy’s appeal be dismissed because it was not filed in a timely manner.
