Water treatment issues prompt closures in Greenfield; residents asked to conserve water
GREENFIELD, Iowa —
Issues at the water treatment plant in Greenfield have prompted the city to close some government buildings and schools.
According to Greenfield Municipal Utilities, the water treatment plant began experiencing problems in the early morning hours of Wednesday. Officials say the water currently in the system is safe, but the city could run out of treated water Wednesday.
“While we would like to hope that we will not reach that critical point, we do feel it is important to share the possibility with our customers as we ask for immediate water conservation,” Greenfield Municipal Utilities announced.
“We are asking all customers to begin water conservation measures immediately.”
Nodaway Valley schools are closed for the day.
