The three mid-Door galleries – Idea Gallery, Cappaert Contemporary Gallery and Martinez Studio – will host simultaneous opening receptions this Saturday, Sept. 12, from 3 to 7 pm.
This annual art tour, which showcases the diversity of the local contemporary art scene, was initiated by gallerist Dan Cross of Idea Gallery in 2019. The galleries will feature the latest works of their owners as well as the artists they represent, many of whom reside in Door County.
Idea Gallery, now in its 10th season, showcases 40 artists in all mediums, many of whom are nationally and internationally renowned. Since opening in 2017, the gallery has expanded with a sculpture garden and an additional annex gallery for workshops by featured artists throughout the season.
Cappaert Contemporary Gallery is the working studio and gallery of artist Ginnie Cappaert, many of whose paintings are inspired by the surroundings of Door County and New Mexico, where she spends her winters. In addition to Cappaert’s work, the gallery represents approximately 40 artists working in a range of mediums, including sculpture, encaustic, painting, wood, ceramics and jewelry.

Martinez Studio, in its 32nd year, features contemporary hand-spun wool tapestries by award-winning artist Wence Martinez. Visitors can see weavings in progress in the on-site studio, as well as woodwork by Michael Doerr and Navajo ceramics by Everett Lee.
Idea Gallery is located at 6551 Cty T in West Jacksonport; Cappaert Contemporary Gallery at 7901 Hwy 42 in Egg Harbor; and Martinez Gallery at 5877 Hwy 57 in Jacksonport.
