WAVERLY, Iowa — Waverly Health Center (WHC) provided more than $2.5 million in community benefits and served 29,689 patients in 2025, according to new data from the Iowa Hospital Association’s annual community benefit and economic impact report.
The hospital employed 814 people and paid $65.6 million in salaries and wages in 2025. WHC continued investing in services, facilities, supplies and workforce development to strengthen the local economy.
The statewide report found that Iowa hospitals collectively provided more than $1.4 billion in community benefits and employed 146,616 individuals. Hospitals provide over $10.4 billion in wages across the state, and hospital expenses accounted for over $24.8 billion of Iowa’s gross domestic product.
“Our mission extends far beyond the walls of our hospital,” said Jodi Geerts, Waverly Health Center Chief Executive Officer. “Every day, we invest in programs and services that improve lives, strengthen our community and help ensure patients have access to the care they need close to home.”
Community benefit programs help improve health and expand access to care through services such as charity care, health screenings, wellness education, workforce development and partnerships with local organizations. The data was compiled from hospital-submitted information to the American Hospital Association’s annual survey of hospitals.

Waverly Health Center is municipally owned and operates independently without local property tax funding. Revenue generated through patient care services is reinvested into facilities, technology, equipment, workforce development and programs that enhance access to high-quality health care for the region.
